Henry Bolton is could be "clinically insane" for not resigning as Ukip leader and Nigel Farage probably helped him with his statement, according to a Ukip activist.
The Ukip leader gave a statement yesterday (January 22) stating he is not resigning from his position, despite the National Executive Committee (NEC) holding an unanimous vote of no confidence in him. His fate will now be decided by the membership.
Former Ukip leadership candidate Ben Walker told James Whale and Ash, Bolton "is either clinically insane [for not resigning] and cannot see what is in front of him or he is dancing to somebody else's tune."
However he did not reveal who else might be involved, saying "I won’t name names but there are people out there quite happily who would see the end of Ukip."
He also believes "Farage has given him some council and helped him through his little press release" in a "kind of a little shrewd political move" to remove attention from the NEC.
Walker said that it's a "horrific kind of ultimatum" for Bolton to claim the party would end if there was another leadership election and "I think if he stays he’s done so much irreversible damage then [Ukip] would be dead."
He added: "If Bolton doesn’t go then we really are starting down the barrel of death, the party will not survive."
