Police are urgently searching for a man who assaulted a uniformed soldier.

The 28-year-old soldier was attacked on London's Haymarket in January fracturing his skull, cheek bone and eye sockets and breaking his nose.

His injuries were so severe they required “extensive surgery” to correct, police said.

Detectives have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak with in relation to the incident.

He is described as having a short beard, dark hair and appears to be wearing a black sweater.
