The Independent Republic of Mike Graham: January 30

Flags, cat selfies and dating in pie shops - we had it all today

Mike Graham's show had a bit of everything today

Tuesday, January 30, 2018

On today's show KP and MG discussed flags, since Gavin Williamson seems passionate about removing EU flags on government buildings and plans are in place to put Pride flags in doctors' surgeries to make LGBT folks more comfortable. Caller Shirley was more concerned about the germs that the flags could bring, never mind the political side of it.

They also chatted with talkRADIO reporter Alex Dibble, who was reporting from football legend Cyrille Regis's memorial service, and gave us a moving account of the tributes paid to the former West Brom and England star.

Black cats are being shunned by millennials amid reports that a large proportion of rehomed cats tend to be black because their colour's not great for Instagram. We had Battersea Dogs and Cats Home to discuss it.

Elsewhere, Greggs is offering a sit-down Valentine's dinner this year, four courses plus fizz for £15 all in. What a bargain! To give us a different perspective, Love Island's Tyla called in with her sage view on dating in the ever-reliable pasty chain.
