Ahead of International Women's Day, organisers of one of the world's biggest feminist events popped by the talkRADIO studios to chat with Penny Smth.

The Women of the World festival (WOW), held in London to mark IWD, celebrates the acheivements of women around the world and highlights the obstacles to their success.

Hannah Witton, Melanie Eusebe and Catherine Mayer joined Penny to discuss the need for the event and its amazing progress.

Catherine, who was on the founding committee, told Penny how it came about.

She said: "Jude Kelly [the organiser] came when I was incredibly busy.

"She turned up at my office with an air of apology to tell me about this idea she'd had to showcase women's acheivements, but also to uncover impediments to this in the future.

"She already had a name for it - Women of the World. Jude's very good at talking people over, and this thing just blossomed.

"It's now sold out every year, as far as I can tell."

Women of the World is on at the Southbank centre and you can find out more by clicking here.
