Isis using 'tens of thousands' of people as human shields in Mosul, says UN

A new report from the United Nations claims Islamic State has used "tens of thousands" of people from around Mosul as human shields near military installations as the battle for the jihadi stronghold continues to rage.

The UN report also claims that Isis slaughtered at least 232 people near Mosul last week.

Those slaughtered included civilians and former Iraqi military personnel who refused to comply with orders.

Isis is currently battling Coalition forces for control of its main bastion in Iraq, in what many have described as a seminal battle in the fight against the Islamist group.
