George Galloway has said it is long past time for Robert Mugabe to "demit office."
Last week, the military took control of Harare in what was deemed to be a "coup in all but name."
After a deadline imposed by Mugabe's own party ended without his resignation, it looks as though lawmakers could be forced to impeach the veteran dictator to force him out.
Our host shared his thoughts on the 93-year-old leader. He said: "I never supported Mugabe in the first place.
"Many of you only know him as a clown, a 93-year-old man absurdly decked out in colourful suits and cowboy with a greedy and grasping 50-year-old wife who he’d been grooming to take over from him.
"He was an educated Marxist intellectual who decided as a young man he would not intolarate apartheid in his land.
"He would settle for nothing less in what was then called Rhodesia. For that crime, he was arrested, incaracated and tortured for nine years.
"When freed from Prison, Mugabe went into the training camps in the bush where he set about fashioning a liberation army which had to wade through rivers of blood to liberate his people.
"Robert Mugabe was once something, really something. [But] I think it’s long past time for Mugabe to demit office."
