Jacob Rees-Mogg: Do I have gay friends? Er, well...'

Rees-Mogg has come under fire for his views on gay marriage

Jacob Rees-Mogg has said that, as a strict Catholic, he is against same-sex marriage

Jacob Rees-Mogg refused to say whether he has any gay friends when quizzed by Julia Hartley-Brewer this morning.

The Tory MP, tipped by many as a future leadership candidate, was put on the spot about his controversial views on homosexuality and same-sex marriage during a tough interview with our presenter.

When asked whether he has any homosexual friends, Rees-Mogg gave a rather vague answer which didn't appear to satisfy our presenter.

However he said that he would happily attend a homosexual wedding if invited, and said he doesn't think gay people are going to hell, as "it's not for me to judge."
