JK Rowling has hit back at one of her former fans who claimed she burnt the Harry Potter books in a row over Donald Trump.

The anonymous Twitter user said that she destroyed the books due to Rowling's criticism of Mr Trump, claiming she was embarrassed and disgusted.

Rowling responded by saying the former fan was not able to think, despite having read many books, The HiIl reported.

An article has recently been shared on social media which discusses Rowling's tweet in response to Mike Pence, The Telegraph said.

Pence said: "Calls to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. are offensive and unconstitutional."

To which the author replied: "'For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?' Matthew 16:26."

This is the second time this week that she has responded to former fans, as another user claimed they would burn her books and films, after hearing what Rowling had to say.

However, Rowling has praised some of her fans who have sent her positive messages.
