Former London Mayor Ken Livingstone believes the public don't need to know about MPs private lives, after it was reported MP Keith Vaz paid for two male escorts.
The scandal has led to the resignation of Vaz from his position as the chair of the Commons Home Affairs Committee, after the escort story broke over the weekend.
Livingstone told talkRADIO that "the public has no need to know about the private lives of MPs unless they're doing something illegal.
"I don't think there are many people sitting round worrying about what their MPs doing in the middle of the night.
"I don't think many people look into Parliament for sex stars or sex scandals," he added. "I don't believe there's any community in the world where some people don't pay for sex."
