Kevin Spacey has been cut from a finished upcoming thriller and replaced in what some reports are calling an unprecedented move.
The actor was due to star in All The Money In The World alongside Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams, with the film scheduled for release on December 22.
The film tells the story of the 1973 kidnapping of the grandson of US mogul Jean Paul Getty.
The director, Ridley Scott, has now chosen to cut Spacey from the film, in which the actor had been due to play Getty himself.
The Hollywood Reporter says Spacey will be replaced by Christopher Plummer, and the production team now faces a significant challenge to re-shoot all of Spacey’s scenes and replace them in the edit to make the December release.
The reported move follows Netflix announcing it was cutting all ties with Spacey.
