Legalisation of Cannabis 'inevitable', says campaigner

Cannabis

A prominent campaigner has claimed that Cannabis will eventually be legalised in the UK, whether opponents like it or not.

This claims comes after a key ingredient in cannabis, Cannabidiol (CBD), was classed as medicinal by a regulator.

Peter Reynolds, the President of CLEAR Cannabis Law Reform, said it was "inevitable" that cannabis would be legalised, telling Julia Hartley-Brewer: "The UK sadly is one of the last advanced countries holding out against all the evidence of cannabis being a safe and effective medicine. Everyone except the UK has recognised the benefit.

“It’s inevitable that cannabis will be legalised anyway. Bans have lead to tremendous harm through criminal records.

"The evidence for medical use of cannabis is overwhelmingly in favour. But for some reason or the other, the UK Government remain stubborn."
