Union boss Len McCluskey has opened his re-election bid with a stark warning to people plotting against Jeremy Corbyn.
The general secretary of Unite is running to maintain his position as the head of Britain's largest trade union.
In a blog for The Huffington Post, he said that he would run for a third term as leader of Unite, which has 1.4 million members.
The election could have a major bearing on the power balance of the Labour party, as the union sits on the National Executive Committee and is also a crucial donor.
With this in mind, McCluskey used the blog to hit out against those who supported the 'coup' against Jeremy Corbyn earlier in the year.
He said: “The last thing we need is Unite to be a political football for factions within the Labour Party.
"We heard a little too much from them this summer.”
