UKIP leadership challenger Suzanne Evans told talkRADIO that the eurosceptic party simply says what we're all thinking.
Speaking on James Whale's show this morning, Evans said UKIP exists to put into words "what everyone thinks but can't say" - a claim which might not go down well with some of the party's opponents.
Evans, who was heavily criticised by Nigel Farage over the weekend, also said UKIP is the party of "common-sense" and suggested its immigration policy has been misunderstood.
She also said that her first priority as leader would be to begin the Brexit process immediately despite many high-level politicians suggesting this is impossible, and had some very harsh words for Raheem Kassam, many people's favourite to take over from Mr Farage as party leader.
