Police searching for missing French citizen Xavier Thomas have found a body in the River Thames, according to Sky News.

Thomas has been missing since Saturday's terror attack on London Bridge, and police fear he may have been thrown into the river.

His girlfriend, Christine Delcros, had been with him at the time of the incident and was badly injured.

She is now being treated in hospital, having succesfully come through surgery to reset her pelvis.

Formal identification has not yet taken place, however the Met Police said in a statement Mr. Thomas' next of kin have been informed of this development.

His family have spoken of the "terrible silence" they have faced as they wait for news of Mr. Thomas.

If the body is confirmed to be the Frenchman, the death toll of the London Bridge terror attack could potentially rise to eight victims.

More to follow.
