Police say they believe seven people have been killed after last night's attacks in London Bridge.

A further 48 people have been injured, and taken to five nearby hospitals in the wake of last night's attack on the central London landmark.

A van ploughed into pedestrians on London Bridgebefore the assailants moved on to the neighbouring Borough Market, a hugely popular destination for tourists. The incident took place around 10pm local time, when the area was packed with people enjoying their Saturday evening.

Armed police were immediately deployed to the scene and three people, all male, were shot dead. Police say they are working on the theory that these three men were the only people involved in the attack.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, although the authorities say it bears the hallmarks of a terrorist incident.
