A number of people have been arrested at a block of flats in east London after last night's terror attack, according to witnesses.

The Met has now confirmed 12 people have been arrested in connection with last night's events, after officers were seen raiding a property in Barking at around 7am this morning.

Sources quoted by Sky News say the house was home to one of the attackers shot dead by police last night.

Witnesses said several people were pictured in handcuffs lying on the ground after the raid, and it is also claimed that several women wearing Islamic dress were seen speaking to officers.

A picture has emerged on Twitter apparently showing suspects lying on the ground after the raid, which can be seen below.

The raid took place hours after a van ploughed into pedestrians on London Bridge, in an incident which left seven people dead and dozens injured.

Theresa May has confirmed the incident is being treated as a terrorist attack, and has chaired a meeting of the Cobra emergency response group this morning.
