Magnitude 6.8 earthquake strikes the coast of California

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake has struck off the coast of California. 

The United States Geological Survey has said the epicentre is 165km west of Ferndale in the north of California at a shallow depth of 10km. 

The Tsunami Warning Center has not issued an alert so far.
