Man arrested following armed incident in Hayes

A man has been arrested after an armed incident in Hayes, Middlesex earlier today.

Officers were called at 10:46am today (Wednesday November 29) to Cardinal Building on Station Road, where a man was reported to be holding a gun.

Four people had been taken hostage at the scene by the man, who had been attempting to carry out a robbery, police said.

Armed officers attended the scene, and just after 11am the man was detained and arrested by armed officers.

During the incident a firearm was discharged by the suspect. There were no reported injuries and police firearms were not discharged.

The man is currently detained at a west London police station and the incident is not being treated as terror-related, according to a statement from the Met Police this afternoon.
