A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the horrific double rape ordeal suffered by a 14-year-old girl in Birmingham last month.

The British Transport Police said the man was arrested this morning (August 9) on suspicion of rape.

The girl has said that she was raped twice on July 26, once at a railway station and then in a car in Witton as she searched for help.

The man who has been arrested has been linked to the car rape and is now in custody to be questioned by police.

Police are treating the first alleged rape as a separate incident and one man has been arrested and another charged in relation to the crime.

Support is being given to the girl from specialist officers and police have thanked the public for supporting appeals for information about the incidents.

Police are still searching for someone who picked the girl up after the second rape and who is thought to have taken her back home.
