Man arrested for scaling wall at Buckingham Palace

The man was not found in possession of any offensive weapons and the incident is not being treated as terror-related

A man who tried to scale a wall at Buckingham Palace has been arrested for trespas.

Officers from the Met's Royalty and Specialist Protection Command arrested the 24-year-old man at approximately 9.45pm on Sunday December 10, three minutes after he stepped over a low outer perimeter fence adjacent to the palace and attempted to climb a wall outside the Palace estate.

The man was not found in possession of any offensive weapons and the incident is not being treated as terror-related.

He was also arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance – for which he was subsequently released with no further action.

The man, who has undergone a mental health assessment, has been released on conditional bail, to return to a central London police station in early January, in relation to his arrest for trespass
