Armed police have arrested a man who was carrying three machetes on a bus in east London.

The incident took place on Barking Road in Plaistow on Monday.

Members of the public on the top deck of the bus filmed the man waiting as armed police officers searched his bag.

They watched as the officer took off wrapping surrounding three large machete-type knives.

A spokesperson said the man had been detained at a police station in east London.

The video posted to Facebook has racked up more than two million views.

The incident came just a couple of days after seven were killed by three terrorists in a truck and knife attack on London Bridge and Borough Market, but this arrest is not thought to be terror-related.
