Man dies after being hit by ambulance in Oxfordshire

The incident occurred on the northbound carriageway

A 35-year-old man has died after being hit by an ambulance on the A34 in Oxfordshire this morning.

Thames Valley Police received reports at around 3.20am of a collision between the vehicle and pedestrian on the northbound carriageway between the junctions for Peartree and Islip.

Officers attended the scene but the man had already died.

The force said it has informed the next of kin and they are being supported by specialist officers.

One lane of the A34 remains closed northbound at this time between Hinksey and Peartree while the road surface repairs are completed.
