A man who went on a Tinder date had his clothes and phone stolen early on Tuesday morning.

Springfield Police are currently searching for the woman who left him with just a coat and a towel to travel home in Massachusetts, WLJA reported.

The pair had been chatting on the dating app for several months before deciding to meet up.

They met at the Village Inn hotel in Springfield, however when the man went to have a shower, she stole his belongings, including his iPhone 7.

Springfield Police Sergant Rich Charboneau told KVAL: "We have some leads we're following up, but obviously we're telling people that if you're going to meet people, via that app, then I'd recommend meeting them someplace in public during the daylight hours."

He also added that the man attempted to contact the woman after their meeting, however she had deleted her profile, on which she had used two different names.

Charboneau also believes that she may have used a fake photo.
