A man covered in blood entered a shop holding a severed head and then stabbed a member of staff in Oregon, reports claim.

After the stabbing the man, who has not been named, was tackled and held down by other employees, according to the New York Post.

Police arrived at the Harvest Market Thriftway in Estacada at around 2:15pm on Sunday (May 14).

The victim was then flown to hospital, however their condition is not currently known.

The suspect was brought into custody and then also taken to hospital, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and Sandy police said.

At around 2:35pm on the same day, police received reports of a woman who had been found dead in her home.

Authorities say the two incidents are connected as investigators believe the man is probably also responsible for the woman's death.
