A man is to stand trial after being accused of abducting his girlfriend and throwing a snake at her.

Eduards Koleda allegedly held Audrey Duffy against her will in Arbroath, Angus in February, according to STV.

Reports claim he also hit the woman on the head and threatened her with a pair of scissors.

Koleda is also accused of pinning her down so that she could not leave and then trying to eat her phone sim card.

The man then reportedly shut the windows, so that others could not hear Duffy, and threw a snake at her.

He has denied charges of abduction and assault to injury, and the trial will continue in January.
