A woman who met a man online was shocked when instead of visiting his parents for the first time as planned, he actually just stole her pickup truck.

The man, in Thailand, also left the woman alone in a restaurant on Saturday (October 14) as he allegedly drove her pickup truck away.

Police said the assistant nurse had been talking to Apichart Kaewmanee online for roughly a week on dating website Badoo, according to The South China Morning Post.

Uthai police chief Anusorn Wayakham claimed it was during this week that the man told the woman that he wanted her to meet his parents.

Kaewmanee reportedly travelled to meet the woman on a bus from Ayutthaya to Chiang Mai.

The pair then travelled in the pickup truck together towards Ayutthaya with the woman believing they were going to see the man's parents, police said.

But before arriving police claim they had stopped for a meal and Kaewmanee left the woman in the restaurant whilst he drove the pickup truck away.

The truck was later found by police but a different man was driving the vehicle. He claimed he purchased the truck from Kaewmanee.

Officers asked the man to contact Kaewmanee about the truck and arrange a meeting. Kaewmanee attended and he was arrested.
