The great and the good of Manchester have been sending messages of support to their fellow citizens after Monday's terror attack which left 22 people dead.

Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher sent "love and light" via Twitter, and ex-Manchester United footballer Gary Neville posted a picture of last night's gig by local band The Courteeners, whose frontman Liam Fray was wearing an 'I love Manchester' t-shirt.

New Order guitarist Peter Hook, whose own daughter was at the Ariana Grande gig, urged Manchester to "stay strong" while Corrie actress Helen Flanagan, chat show host Melanie Sykes and Take That singer Gary Barlow sent their own moving messages.

Manchester remains in shock after Monday's bombing, which has resulted in Prime Minister Theresa May raising Britain's terror threat level to critical. Nonetheless the city remains defiant, an attitude summed up in the huge rally which took place in Albert Square last night.
