Two of Manchester United's biggest heroes have put football rivalry aside to express their support for City star David Silva.
The Spanish midfielder's baby boy was born extremely prematurely this week, and faces a fight for his life.
United fans have inundated Twitter with their support, and they have been led by Gary Neville and Michael Carrick, who both penned moving messages of sympathy.
Neville, who played for United from 1992 to 2011, wrote: "I can’t think of many players from a rival club that have been a credit to the game on and off the pitch as much as David Silva. Immersed himself in the city , never complains , always plays and performs brilliantly."
Carrick followed this up by writing: "Some things are much more important than football. All the best to you and your family David, especially to your little man."
The messages have been praised by City and United fans alike, as Manchester becomes a city united once again, just months after reds and blues came together to mourn the Manchester Arena terror attack.
