Mark Francois has claimed some MPs forget they are "the servants of the people".
Discussing Brexit with talkRADIO's Julia Hartley-Brewer, the Conservative MP said there were politicians who believed they were "cleverer" than the members of the public who elected them.
"MPs are the servants of the people, we report to them, they don't report to us," he said.
"MPs, some of whom have never accepted the result of the referendum and have done everything they can to frustrate it, they think they're cleverer than the people who elect them - I think they're wrong."
The European Research Group member warned of a "massive public backlash" if Brexit was cancelled, with MPs voting to take control of the Brexit process in a Commons vote last night.
"Some MPs are trying to completely overturn the result of a democratic referendum and I think if MPs are stupid enough to try and do that, there'll be a massive public backlash," Mr Francois added.
