Meghan Markle sues press in ‘privacy case of the century’

The Duchess of Sussex is taking legal action against the Mail on Sunday in what a media law expert has said could be the “privacy case of the century”.

Meghan Markle is suing the Sunday paper over allegations it unlawfully published a private letter she sent to her estranged father, Thomas Markle, back in February.

Her husband Prince Harry slammed the British tabloid press for a “ruthless campaign” against the Duchess, who he said had been “vilified almost daily for the past nine months”.

He said: “I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditised to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person.

“I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces.”

The Mail on Sunday it “stands by the story it published” and will defend this case “vigorously”.

TalkRADIO’s Mike Graham reacted to the news, slamming the couple as an “absolute disgrace”. These are his views and not talkRADIO’s.

“Harry and Meghan have decided to shoot themselves in the foot once again by suing a newspaper group for, in their words, telling lies about poor little Megs and her relationship with her father.

“Just when you thought they were learning their lesson about how to operate in the public eye, they’ve gone and ruined it all.

“If only they weren’t hopelessly wealthy millionaires and they hadn’t flown a hairdresser and a fleet of Land Rovers out to Africa and they didn’t stop going around everywhere in private jets, we might even have some sympathy.

“I’ve got an idea. I’m going to sue Harry and Meghan. I’m going to hire some barristers, I want the money back for their wedding; I want the money back for the cottage changes that they made and the improvements they made to their house in Windsor.

“I want the money back for their shrubbery that we paid for; I want all of the money back for all of the people they flew out, all 13 members of their entourage out to South Africa.

“I want the money back for the hairdresser; I want the money back for the fleet of Land Rovers; I want the money back for every single thing that this pair has taken off us as taxpayers.

“Because let me tell you this: Prince Harry, Princess Meghan Markle, you two are an absolute disgrace and we don’t even want you anymore in this country.”
