A group of seven people, including four migrants, have been arrested in Calais for attempting an elaborate smuggling operation by plane.
The group includes four migrants from Albania, the pilot and two smugglers of British origin, who French officials believe are part of a larger people-trafficking operation.
The group of seven were arrested on the tarmac of Marck airfield, near to Calais-Dunkirk airport.
The group of migrants included a mother and child, who were referred to a hospital nearby while the others were placed in a detention centre.
The assistant prosecutor of Boulogne-sur-Mer, Philippe Sabatier, said investigators had already contacted their UK counterparts and are awaiting further information on the smugglers.
