talkRADIO’s Mike Graham has strongly criticised the Chinese government for its handling of the coronavirus outbreak and called for economic sanctions on the state.
“Let’s get one thing straight, China is to blame for this particular pandemic, China is to blame for all of the deaths around the world,” he told listeners this morning.
China has been accused of failing to alert the rest of the world after Covid-19 was first detected in the city of Wuhan in December last year.
However, China’s ambassador to the UK, Liu Xiaoming, has insisted there was no cover up when cases were first reported.
“We shared information with the WHO (World Health Organisation) and the world without delay,” he told Sky News this week.
Mike said to believe the statement was “ridiculousness”.
“The bottom line for me is that China has cost our economy alone, something in the tune of £300 billion. What needs to happen is that we get that money back from China.
“It’s just not good enough for them not to compensate us, it’s not good enough for them to continue to do business with us as if nothing has changed,” he said
China has expressed support for an independent review of the response to the outbreak, but said it should wait until after the pandemic is over.
