Mike Graham has revealed the "strange phenomena" which happens when he's out in public with his 27-year-old daughter, as people look at him "accusingly."
A father was accused of being a paedophile by staff at a Travelodge after he checked in with his daughter. They were staying in Macclesfield, Cheshire to visit his mother who is ill, when police raided Karl Pollard's room after staff reported him for suspected grooming.
During a discussion with John Adams, who runs parenting blog Dad Blog UK, Mike Graham revealed that when he goes out with his 27-year-old daughter "I can feel people looking at me, like sort of accusingly, like 'what are you doing with her?'
"They think 'look at this older guy out with this young woman, thinks he's cool.' It's a very strange phenomena that goes on."
Adams also said: "My challenge would be: how would the hotel staff have reacted if a mum had turned up with her teenage son or daughter?
"If they’d behaved exactly the same way then I think fine fair enough but would they have done?"
Katie Perrior responded "I suspect they would not have done that" and "they'd never have acted this way if it was a mother."
Adams added that we must remember we don't know what happened at the hotel but "you’d like to think that [staff] would have actually asked questions" to the father before calling the police.
