Mike Graham rips up Guardian over Boris Johnson criticism

Tuesday, May 12, 2020

talkRADIO’s Mike Graham has ripped up his copy of the Guardian after it criticised Boris Johnson’s approach to easing the UK’s coronavirus lockdown.

The paper had quoted Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer on its front page, saying that the Prime Minister had given “no clear direction” in his plan to gradually relax laws.

The government has faced criticism from opposition MPs, as well as police and unions, over an alleged lack of clarity in its strategy.

Mike aruged that those opposing Mr Johnson’s instructions were being “deliberately obtuse and ridiculous”.

“Never before have we seen so many people asking so many questions, with so little intelligence, such blatant abandon for common sense and with a flagrant disregard for the bleeding obvious,” he said

He then tore the newspaper to bits and hurled it across the studio live on air, asking “Exactly which part of all this do they not get?”

“The Guardian is going to go into the bin, as it has before and as it probably will do again.

“The people, quite frankly, are sick to death of pseudo-intellectuals from Putney and from the Human Rights Commission telling us that we can’t understand simple instructions,” he added.

It is not the first time a newspaper has been subject to Mike's wrath. He has previously ripped up copies of the Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail over claims about MPs he did not believe were accurate.
