talkRADIO’s Mike Graham has poked fun at those calling for clarity over Boris Johnson’s latest lockdown message.
“We have become a nation of nincompoops,” he declared on his mid-morning show today.
“As I look around the landscape of our political world there are people absolutely everywhere losing their minds, demanding specific instructions on everyday decisions that they used to make all by themselves just two months ago.”
It comes after the Prime Minister unveiled his “conditional” plan for easing the UK out of coronavirus lockdown, switching the government slogan from “stay at home” to “stay alert”.
The first changes to the restrictions included encouraging those who cannot work from home to return to work and allowing unlimited outdoor exercise, while maintaining social distancing.
Mr Johnson also indicated that a phased reopening of schools and shops could take place from the beginning of June and some parts of the hospitality industry could open in July.
However, he has been accused of failing to provide sufficient details, with Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer saying the announcement lacked “clarity and consensus”.
Mike said that the questions arising in wake of the speech were “entirely laughable”.
He said: “The Prime Minister, in an attempt to sum up exactly where we are managed to do so, I think, perfectly adequately.
“The fact that a few Boris-hating remoaners are now trying to blame him from their Surrey mansions or indeed from their palatial houses in west London is totally ridiculous.”
