More than 50 people have died after a bus caught fire in Kazakhstan today (January 18).
An spokesperson for the country's Interior Ministry emergencies committee said the incident took place in the Aktobe region at around 10:30am local time.
There were 55 passengers on board the Ikarus bus at the time of the incident as well as two drivers, and 52 of those on board have died.
The five who survived were able to get out of the vehicle and are being treated at the scene, the spokesperson added.
It is not yet clear who was travelling on the bus or where they were from, according to Tass.
There are currently police officers, rescuers and doctors working on the Samara-Shymkent highway.
