A mother who fatally stabbed a man who was allegedly trying to rape her daughter in South Africa is not going to be charged.
The National Prosecuting Authority said it would not press ahead with the case as there was little chance it would lead to a prosecution.
The mother, who has confessed to the stabbing, has been nicknamed Lion Mama due to the incident, according to The South African.
Those in the courtroom cheered when it was announced that the woman would be free from charges.
She allegedly heard her daughter calling for help as she was being gang-raped by three men.
It is claimed the mother then started to fight with the men, however as this went on she fatally stabbed one of the alleged attackers.
The family and friends of the alleged attackers have since threatened the mother and daughter, but many others have come out in support of the pair.
Crowdfunding has helped them pay for the mother's bail and contributed to legal costs, whilst some have donated money to help improve their home.
The other alleged attackers are currently in custody and will have to appear at the High Court, where it is expected they will ask to be released on bail.
