The man who filmed mugging a 12-year-old girl in Derby has been sentenced to three years in jail.
Footage of Patrik Gunar, 22, attacking the girl and stealing her iPhone 6s was circulated widely online in February, helping to identify him.
Slovakian Gunar grabbed the youngster on Cambridge Street, in Derby, on February 18. She fought back but eventually her phone was stolen.
Gunar wept in the dock as he pleaded guilty to robbery at Derby Crown Court. He had told officers that his victim was ‘easy prey’ because she was ‘just a little girl’.
Gunar, of Derby, was caught after the video was shared widely online including by a number of celebrities. The youngster said she had been left feeling ‘scared and insecure’. Detective Constable Mick Stainsby, of Derbyshire Police, said: ‘The CCTV footage captures the horrific incident taking place. The 12-year-old victim has been very brave but was attacked for apparently no other reason than to steal her phone, a rose gold iPhone."
