New footage released in north London stabbing case

Police have released new footage of the getaway car believed to have been driven by those who stabbed and killed a 22-year-old man in north London.

Detectives believe Calvin Bungisa was murdered in Kentish Town on April 1 after being chased by several suspects. He was killed amid a spate of unprovoked stabbings across north London.

In the CCTV footage a dark coloured VW Bora drives close to the murder scene before speeding away through a red traffic light. It was found burnt-out only hours later.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell said he hoped the clips may jog someone’s memory.

“No matter how insignificant you may think the information is, it could help us bring these killers to justice, give some peace to a grieving family and make a community safer,” he said.

“Sadly there remains the possibility that Calvin's murder was gang related and if so, there is a good chance that there are a number of people who will know what happened that night, and more importantly, who is responsible.”

He added: “There were a group of young men who we know were with Calvin prior to his murder and we would very much like to speak with them.”

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on July 1 and has since been released under investigation.

Crimestoppers has posted a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to the conviction of Mr Bungisa’s killers.
