An Australia man has claimed his new iPhone 7 burst into flames and destroyed his car.

Mat Jones says he had left the phone under clothes in his car to go off and take a surf lesson, returning to find the car filled with smoke.

Jones recorded the molten remains of his iPhone 7 and the flaming pants it was wrapped in on a borrowed phone, and from this, he believes it was the source of the fire.

Recently, tech giant Samsung asked all owners of their Galaxy Note 7 model to switch their phones off after reports that several phones were exploding

Apple has refused to comment on this particular incident, but did tell Australian news outlets they were aware of and were investigating it.
