Survivors who fled the north of Afghanistan after Isis seized the territory last week have told their stories to Russia Today of a warlord who has taken control of the region.

Azizullah is the son of an Uzbek jihadist leader, and was imprisoned for his crimes against the people of Afghanistan.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, he was released from his incarceration at Bagram prison in 2016.

Islamic State seized the areas surrounding Tora Bora - a former stronghold of Osama Bin Laden - last week, and these realms are reported to have come under the control of Azizullah.

The second-generation warlord is believed to be leading the local branch of the terror group.

Azizullah has a history of violence and murder in the Faryab and Sar-e-Pul provinces of Afghanistan.
