A newborn baby was found abandoned in a Mediterranean coastal port in southern France on Monday.
The baby boy was discovered in commune of Cassis - near to the city of Marseille - after his cries alerted people passing by.
He had been placed in a bush which was concealed by an electric transformer, and his umbilical cord was still in place.
The police were swiftly alerted, and the baby was transported to hospital.
An investigation into his abandonment has been opened.
Local media reports the people who discovered him were handed the task of baptising him, giving him the name of Alban.
