Nigel Farage's idea of becoming an ambassador for Donald Trump is a joke that shouldn't be taken seriously, according to a fellow Brexiteer.

MP Gisela Stuart spoke to talkRADIO after Mr Farage had himself appeared on our station and refused to rule out the idea of working for Mr Trump in an interview with James Whale, during which he also called Barack Obama a "loathsome creature."

Mr Farage had initially speculated about being Mr Trump's ambassador to Europe in the run-up to the Republican's incredible election victory.

Ms Stuart told Julia Hartley-Brewer that while the idea is fun, global politics is just too important for it to be taken seriously.

She also said the UK is in a good position to secure a good trade deal with the United States of America under the Trump administration.
