Counter-terrorism officers have carried out a controlled explosion at North Greenwich station following the evacuation earlier today.

The station was cleared after staff found a suspicious package on a train.

North Greenwich is the main transport hub for the O2 arena, where US rock group Nickelback are due to play this evening, and is also close to the Canary Wharf financial district.

Commuters on Twitter reported that the Jubilee Line, which runs through North Greenwich, is now running a full service in both directions although the station itself remains closed.

TfL has reported that the local bus network is severely disrupted, with lengthy delays.
