An agency nurse has been struck off after he groped a man whilst he was checking football scores on his phone.

Sancho De Leon groped the man whilst leaning in to look at his phone in November 2015, according to Court News UK.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council heard that the victim felt uncomfortable and claimed he was leaving to buy coffee in order to escape De Leon. However the nurse followed him and continued to grab at him.

When he asked the nurse to stop, De Leon just laughed about the incident at Maidstone Hospital.

De Leon has been given a 12-month community order with 160 hours' unpaid work and will have to sign the sex offenders register for five years. He has been ordered to pay his victim £250 compensation and been forbidden from practising as a nurse.

Despite this, the man still denies the offence and claims the victim invented the story.

Robin Somerville, the panel chair at the Nursing and Midwifery Council said: "The panel determined that the proposed striking-off order was the only sanction that would satisfy the public interest in this case.

"It further noted that Mr De Leon has indicated that he no longer wishes to practise as a registered nurse."
