One person have been confirmed dead and several are injured in Western Australia after a car rammed into pedestrians in a chilling reminder of recent UK terror attacks.

Latest reports suggest that several people were stabbed in a mass brawl outside a McDonald's restaurant, and a car crashed into passers-by close to the scene of the fight.

It is believed that the two incidents are related, but there has no been official confirmation to this effect.

The incident took place in the Perth suburb of Canning Vale at around 3pm local time (7am GMT).

Police were called to Ranford Road about 3:15pm, and told local outlet ABC that a "large group" of people were brawling at a McDonald's restaurant.

About an hour later, officers were called to nearby Eucalyptus Boulevard after a car had been driven into pedestrians. Some reports suggest seven people were mowed down.

Police said they were conducting investigations into three separate crime scenes and had dispatched the homicide squad.
