A day like today - when the heavens open up and torrential rain follows - is always inevitable during the British summertime.
Instead of basking in the heat and sun, we get to enjoy cold and rain, sticking on the heating rather than reaching for the bronzie.
In fairness it's not been too bad this year. We had some great weather for a few weeks in June and early July.
But now the weather has settled back into its familiar pattern. And those hazy days seem a lifetime ago.
Naturally, being Brits, we've embraced this drizzly dystopia with open arms, as it gives us the chance to indulge in our favourite pastime: complaining.
