A Palestinian security officer has been sentenced to more than five years in an Israeli prison.
Palestinian media reported that Abd al-Rahman Zuhdi Mahfouth had been detained by Israeli forces two years ago.
The reason for his detention was said to be resisting occupation, according to Ma'an News Agency.
The Israeli Ofer Military Court has now reportedly sentenced Mahfouth to five years and eight months in prison.
It is also claimed the court gave the Palestinian Preventive Security Forces officer a fine of 2,000 shekels (£420).
However his brother, named Omar, was reportedly released from Israeli custody yesterday (August 3), after he had spent eight years in jail.
Addameer, a prison rights group, claims that in July there were more than 6,000 Palestinian people imprisoned by Israel.
