Piers Morgan has branded a Polish MEP as a "horrendous sexist pig" for saying women are less intelligent than men.
Janusz Korwin-Mikke claimed that women earn less than men "because they are weaker, smaller and less intelligent" during a discussion about the gender pay gap.
The man, who leads a party called Poland’s Coalition for the Renewal of the Republic–Liberty and Hope, is now being investigated for the comments, according to The Sun.
The MEP appeared on Good Morning Britain on International Women's Day (March 8) where Morgan criticised him heavily.
The presenter asked: “Don’t you understand that when you are [saying those things], you are showing the world that you are a horrendous, sexist pig?”
Korwin-Mikke, responding via video link from Poland, then tried to claim shorter men also earn less than taller men.
He asaid: “But excuse me, why are [you] not interested that the women are shorter or weaker than men? Intelligence is only one feature of women. And of course they are less intelligent, several points on the IQ scale.”
When Morgan said the MEP was saying "such stupid things" about women being less intelligent than men, Korwin-Mikke claimed: “It is scientifically proven. This shows you are an idiot who doesn’t believe in science.”
Morgan's co-presenter Susanna Reid stayed silent for the majority of the interview, seemingly stunned by the comments.
At the end of the interview Morgan said Korwin-Mikke is "the greatest advert for Britain leaving the European Union I’ve ever seen.”
