People have been rallying behind Theresa May today (October 6), blasting leadership plotter Grant Shapps in a surprising display of support for the embattled Prime Minister.
Shapps, the former chairman of the Conservative Party, has said there are many Tories who want to oust May from Downing Street.
It is claimed that there are 30 MPs who want a leadership contest to begin, and Shapps has suggested he has the support of five former Cabinet members.
But this alleged group of people who want to remove May from her role might be outnumbered by those who are showing their support, judging by some of the messages left on Twitter.
Unusually, many Twitter users have actually hit out at Shapps for his comments and suggested that the Prime Minister needs to stay put.
Some claim the reason for this is Brexit, whilst others say the former chairman should be ignored and has no chance of starting a leadership contest.
